Begining to fly questions?

November 15th, 2009 | Tags:

I'm amazed by Planes! I love to watch aircraft take off and land, also riding along too, so I want to learn how to fly. I would like to have my own small aircraft (cessna) and just fly for fun and visit other states, it would be a great hobby and something to do. Well to get to the questions, how old must you be to fly? Secondly how much do the classes usually cost? I heard you have to earn your fly time in hours and have a certain number of hours to achieve a license.

This link has a searchable flight school list by state. Check out their websites for prices, credentials, etc. Give one or two a call! They will be glad to answer all your questions about learning to fly.

You have to be 14 to start training, 16 to fly solo, and 17 to get your private pilot license.

The average amount of money spent on earning a PPL is between 6000 and 8000 dollars depending on how many hours you fly.

Answer:The following answers apply to the U.S:

message me with questions

Answer:jtk15… is right with regard to the requirements.

Just to add a little more information:

The 40 hours is not really realistic. The national average is probably closer to 50-60. That is skewed by the students who have no aptitude, fly once a month, start and stop, start and stop, etc. But I would seriously not expect to finish in less than 45-50 hours.

If you do this, have your money situation settled. Try to fly at least three times a week with no interruptions. More would be even better. Plan on some serious study; it isn't all fun and games.

In the end, it will probably cost somewhere between 5-8K for your Private Pilot Certificate.

Good Luckl

Answer:You are correct. You must have a minimum of 40 hours of flight time to get your private license. A certain amount of that time must be spent with an instructor.

The best thing to do is rent a plane. you can get a Cessna for less than $100 per hour.

I am not 100% sure but I think 16 is that age for a private pilot in the fixed wing side of the house but it may be 18 not sure.

Answer:Don't give up, and don't worry about FliteSim.
